Random House is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or
misdirected entries, or for technical, hardware or software failures
of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed,
incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission or any human
error that may occur in the receipt or processing of online entries.
Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, who are above the age of 13 years as of and including August 1, 2008. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc and its parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies or prize suppliers; their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this Contest.
ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE
There will be one (1) Grand Prize Winner selected. Grand Prize Winner will win a trip for four (4) to Universal Orlando® Resort including: Roundtrip coach class airfare for up to four (4) to Orlando, FL.* Winner will be responsible for ground transportation at point of origin; Non-exclusive ground transfers to/from Orlando airport and hotel; Hotel accommodations, room and tax only, for up to four (4) people in a maximum of one (1) suite (Dr. Seuss themed) at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort for (4) days and three (3) consecutive nights. Hotel accommodations do not include meals, incidentals, tips, telephone calls or any other personal expenses during trip; Four (4) 3-Day/2-Park Tickets for admission to Universal Studios Florida® and Universal’s Islands of Adventure®; and a Dr. Seuss gift basket. (Approximate retail value $$3,229.60 USD); actual ARV may vary depending on the winner’s city of departure. No other expenses included. Travel and use of accommodation are at risk of Winner and Winner's parent/legal guardian, and Universal Orlando Resort and Random House Inc. do not assume any liability. Travel must be completed by April 1, 2010. Black-out dates and other restrictions may apply as dictated by airline and/or hotel. Winner travel arrangements must be made a minimum of 60 days prior to winner travel and are subject to availability. If winner is unable to fulfill prize during time period, winner forfeits the prize package. All elements of the Grand Prize must be booked and redeemed at the same time, and no changes shall be permitted after confirmation. Minor traveling companion(s) (if any) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Winner and guests must all travel on the same itinerary. If for any reason prize is not available or cannot be fulfilled, Random House Inc. reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, including, but not limited to, cash equivalent. All Universal Orlando tickets specifically exclude admission to special or separately ticketed “hard ticket” entertainment events at either of the theme parks or within any of the Universal CityWalk Orlando venues. All tickets are valid during normal operating hours only. Operating hours and availability of attractions and shows are subject to change without notice. Universal Orlando reserves the right to change the name of all tickets. All federal, state, and local taxes, if any, are the Winner's full and sole responsibility. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be assigned. No prize or cash substitutes allowed, except at the discretion of the sponsor as set forth above. * Airfare and ground transportation portions of the Grand Prize package are void if Grand Prize winner resides in Florida. Instead, Grand Prize winner will receive one (1) complimentary UO parking pass valid for three (3) consecutive days.
Potential Winners will be chosen on or around April 15, 2009, from all eligible entries received by the Random House Marketing Department within the Entry Deadline. One entry will be chosen at random by the Random House Marketing Department staff, whose decisions are final. If Winner is under the age of 18, the prize will be awarded in the name of the winner's parent or legal guardian. Winner or Winner’s parent or legal guardian will be notified by mail on or about April 15, 2009 and Winner or Winner’s parent/legal guardian and friends traveling or the parent/legal guardian of friends traveling will be required to sign and return affidavit(s) of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. Any noncompliance with the 14-day time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner by sponsor. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.
By participating, participants and winners (and winners’ parent/legal guardian) agree that Random House LLC, Universal City Development Partners, Ltd. d/b/a Universal Orlando Resort, and its and their parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion, fulfillment agencies, and prize suppliers will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by participants and winners (and participants’ and winners’ parent/legal guardian) for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or participation in this contest. By entering the Contest the Winner or the Winner’s parent or legal guardian consents to the use of the Winner’s name, likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House LLC with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). All other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the name of the winner, available after April 15, 2009, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Happy Birthday To You!
