In January 2004, Random House Children’s Books
kicked off the Seussentennial Imagination Tour—100
days of events and celebrations honoring Theodor Seuss
Geisel’s memory. The Imagination Tour visited
more than 40 cities, bringing the Seussentennial to
life through free, live performances by actors and costumed
characters, readings of Dr. Seuss books, and interactive
Imagination Workshops for kids. Children were also asked
to create a storyline that will be the foundation of
a book written by participants. The storyline expanded
as the tour traveled across the country. Local and national
contests were held including the “Tell us the
Thing One and Thing Two Things You Love About Dr. Seuss”
contest. The tour visited children’s museums,
community centers, and other public venues. See photos
of the tour!
