Oh, the Things You Can Think!

Jeffrey Tambor
Actor, co-star of FOX’s “Arrested Development”

I love Oh, the Things You Can Think! because it doesn’t just talk about thinking—it celebrates thinking, and even more important, thinking “outside the box.” It says think anything, go ahead—you’re entitled, and it is told in a delightful, non preachy way—fun and easy and bright and imaginative—just like the act of thinking itself.

And read it out loud—that’s the real fun of it—wrap your mouth around words like JIBOO, GUFF, ZONG, and, of course, KITTY O’ SULLIVAN KRAUSS.

The beauty of this book is that it is about the unlimited power and freedom that we have at our disposal—our own minds—that’s the bottom-line here and it is a theme that runs throughout Dr. Seuss’ books. I can’t think of anything more important to a child—well, to an adult too—probably more important to an adult because they are prone to lose this lesson as they GROW UP.

The book is easy to read and the words the children don’t know are probably the ones Dr. Seuss intended—he made them up—the book is brilliant in its color and illustration and is not afraid to be silly and fun—by the way, how long is the tail of a ZONG?
