The Lorax Grant Sweepstakes Official Rules
HOW TO ENTER • NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter online at TheLoraxProject.com/grant by answering a series of questions about how you would spend a $2,500 grant to beautify your school in the spirit of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax. Entrants are also required to submit at least one drawing, sketch, picture, photograph, or other visual representation of their plan. Other supplemental materials will also be accepted via e-mail as they pertain to your entry. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER CLASS. Entries must be e-mailed separately and received by Random House no earlier than January 15, 2014. Any entries received before January 15, 2014, or after March 15, 2014, will be automatically disqualified. Entries must be original. Partially completed entries will not be accepted.
ELIGIBILITY • Contest is open to school employees working with first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade students at schools located in the 50 states, or the District of Columbia, and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House, Inc., and their parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies; their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this contest.
PRIZES • Prizes will be awarded to the school of primary employment for each prize winner. The employing school of the grand prize winner will receive a $2,500 gift card for supplies and materials to make improvements to the school, thirty (30) copies of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, one (1) DVD of The Lorax movie, a set of the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library books, and one (1) Manhattan Toy’s The Lorax Finger Puppet Set. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $3229. If for any reason a prize is not available or cannot be fulfilled, RANDOM HOUSE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE. If a school decides not to accept a prize for any reason, Random House may determine not to award such prize, and shall not be obligated to award it to any other prize winner. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be assigned. No prize or cash substitutes allowed, except at the discretion of Random House as set forth in these rules.
The schools of primary employment of three (3) runners-up will receive win a $250 gift card for supplies and materials, thirty (30) copies of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, one (1) DVD of The Lorax movie, and one (1) Manhattan Toy’s The Lorax Finger Puppet Set.. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $719.
WINNER AND RUNNERS-UP • The Winner and runners-up will be chosen on or around March 15, 2014 from all eligible entries received by the Random House within the entry deadline. Entries will be judged by the staffs of Random House, whose decisions are final, and the prizes will be awarded on the basis of originality, style, and creativity. The prizes will be awarded in the name of the school of primary employment of the prize winner. Such schools are not a third-party beneficiary of this agreement. Winner and runners-up will be notified by mail and will be required to sign and return affidavit(s) of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. A noncompliance within that time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Winner will be notified by mail on or about April 1, 2014. Taxes, if any, are the winner's sole responsibility.
RESERVATIONS AND WAIVER • By participating, entrants, including the school employee and school, agree that Random House, Inc., and their parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion, fulfillment agencies, and suppliers will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by entrants for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or participation in this contest. By entering the Contest the winning school employee consents to the use of the name, likeness, and biographical data or description of the winning school employee, and his or her school for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House, Inc. with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). Other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the name of the Winner, available after April 22, 2014 please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Random House, Lorax School Grant, 1745 Broadway 9-1, New York, NY 10019. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return postage.
