Kids can help make this comforting make-ahead meal to share with someone in need of love and cheer.
What you’ll need:
- 3 cups small shell pasta, uncooked
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 12 ounces of tuna, drained
- 2 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Directions:
Cook pasta and frozen peas according to package directions and drain well. While pasta and peas are cooking, cook onion in butter until tender. Still in flour and pepper. Add milk all at once and stir until slightly thickened. Add 2 cups of the cheese into thickened sauce and stir until melted.
Add drained tuna, peas, and pasta to the cheese sauce. Mix well then transfer to a 1 ½ quart casserole dish. Spread ½ cup cheese on top of the casserole. Cook uncovered at 350° for 18-20 minutes.
