Make Dad Glad Coupon Book

I Love Pop provides inspiration for a homemade coupon book to give to Dad.

What you’ll need:

  • paper
  • scissors
  • crayons or markers
  • pencil
  • stapler

Directions:

  • A reading of Dr. Seuss’s I Love Pop can help kids generate ideas for how to show love for dad and all he does. Read and talk about what might make Dad feel better when he’s sad or how they can show affection. Ask your child to come up with a list of nice, fun things they want to do to celebrate their dad. Turn those ideas into a gift—a coupon book with coupons Dad can redeem at his leisure.
  • To make the coupon book, fold a sheet of paper in half and then in half again. Help your child cut along the folds to make four small squares of paper, and turn each square into a coupon for dad, drawing pictures and writing what each coupon is worth: “A big hug for Dad,” “An extra bedtime story with Dad,” or “Special snack and a movie with Dad.”
  • If your child has lots of coupon ideas, cut another sheet of paper to create more coupons. Help your child stack all the coupons together and staple them into a little booklet. Present it to Dad in a special ceremony!
